| Important Information |
| 1. Level Mounting Space |
| |
Our Horizontal Soft Sheer Window Shadings are a precision, hand crafted product. Please take care when measuring and placing your window shading order. The top rail on the Soft Sheer Shading must be perfectly level and installed evenly to ensure smooth operation. On an Inside Mount, it is recommended that you check to see that the mounting surface is level and consistent. If your soffit needs to be leveled, this should be done before measuring.
|
| 2. Height (Length) Considerations |
| |
Your window shading will be fabricated to the exact height ordered, when the vanes are in the open or View-Through position. However, because the vanes rotate when closing, the shading will become 3/8" longer in the closed position. If closed and not raised, a slight puckering can occur on the lower most sheer section.
To compensate, slightly raise the shading until the rail begins to lift off the window sill. If preferred, the Soft Sheer Shadings can be ordered at 3/8" less than the measured height, just deduct 3/8" from your height measurement. In this case, the bottom rail will be positioned 3/8" above the sill when the vanes are in the open position. Rotating the vanes closed will cause the bottom rail to meet the sill, closing any space. | Inside Mount Application |
| 1. Check for Proper Mounting Depth |
| |
Inside mounts require a minimum window depth to properly mount a blind or shade. If the depth of your window casing is not
equal to or greater than the minimum mounting depth, you will need to measure for an outside mount application. The following chart lists our
window shadings mounting depths.
| Minimum Inside Mounting Depth | Flush Inside Mounting Depth |
| Window Shadings | 3/4" | 3 1/4" |
The Inside Mounting Depth is the minimum depth required to mount the product shown as inside mount. This depth typically
allows for enough space for the brackets to be mounted, a portion of the blind or shade may protrude from the window opening.
If you want the blind to be fully recessed inside the window opening then you will require the depth found in
the "Flush Inside Mounting Depth" column of the table. Note that you need to factor obstructions such as window cranks, handles and other
items inside the window opening into your depth measurement.
|
| 2. Measuring the Window opening |
| |
|
Width Using a steel tape measure, measure the exact width of the window opening in at least THREE (3) places: top,
middle, and bottom. Take the smallest of the 3 measurements (down to the nearest 1/8th inch) and write it down. This is the width you will order. DO
NOT MAKE ANY DEDUCTIONS, the factory will make the appropriate deductions to provide proper fit and operation.
Height Measure the exact height from the top inside edge down to the window sill/window bottom in THREE
places: left, middle, right. Take the SMALLEST/SHORTEST of the three measurements (rounded down to the nearest 1/8th inch). This is the height you will order.

| Outside Mount Application |
| 1. Where to Measure |
| |
Width
Wall Mount: Using a steel tape measure, measure the width of
the window (left to right). If possible, add at least 3" to this measurement to ensure maximum light blockage. The headrail unit will be manufactured
to this ordered width PLUS 3/16" and the fabric of the window shading will measure ordered width LESS 3/4". If you want the fabric to be
a certain size then make sure to add 3/4" to your ordered width.
Trim Mount: Measure the exact width of the trim, edge to edge, from the left side of the window trim to the right side of the window
trim. The section of the trim that will be directly mounted to needs to be at least 1" tall and be a flat and solid surface so the mounting
brackets can be mounted properly. You will also want to make sure the top section of the trim is level so your window treatment hangs
properly.
Height
Wall Mount: Measure the height of the window (top to bottom). To this height add at least 3" for proper bracket room
and overlap. A minimum of 1" is required for bracket placement at the top, the rest is to minimize any light gap at the bottom of the window.
You may add more to the measured height as you see fit.
If you want to preserve your window view, you will want to have your blinds stack completely off the window when it’s fully raised. To do this,
you will need to add the approximate stack height value of the window shading which is approximately 2 7/8", the height of the headrail/enclosure unit.
Trim Mount: For the height on a trim mount, measure the trim's outside edge from top to bottom. Again, make sure the trim provides a
flat, solid space so you can mount the blind to it.
Note: If you have a window sill that protrudes at the bottom of the window, adjust your height measurement so the blind rests above the sill.
