 | Flat Fold The flat fold is also referred to as the waterfall style and it is the standard shade style. It is a simple, elegant, tailored design with no horizontal seams. This tailored style is an excellent choice for fabrics with large scale patterns that look best without interruption. When fully extended the entire pattern is displayed. Tack stitches used to attach the cord rings are visible on the face of the shade. When first installed this style should be pulled up fully and left in place several days to create "pleat memory". |
 | Pleated Fold The pleated fold is also referred to as either a classic fold or a plain fold. It has a structured contemporary look that requires minimal dressing. Stay pockets on the back of the shade create pleats which look great with most fabrics. The pleated fold stay pockets will interrupt fabrics with prints and is not recommended for geometric patterns.  | Soft Fold The soft fold style is also known as a hobbled or looped fold. The soft flow of this style is created by hobbling the face fabric onto the lining at regular intervals. This creates cascading soft folds at 6" intervals. While still tailored, this style has a wonderfully soft feel. The flexibility of this style lends itself to use with all kinds of fabrics from more heavy, full-bodied to softer, more lightweight.  | European Fold The European fold style is also referred to as relaxed fold. The bottom sides of the shade curve upward when the shade is raised. This softens the entire look of the shade as the fabric gathers in random soft folds. Small tack stitches used to attach the cord rings are visible on the face of the shade. When first installed this style should be pulled up fully and left in place several days to create "pleat memory". The sides of the shade may give an inward curve referred to as a hourglass effect, this is normal and is not considered a defect. This shade style takes manual adjusting to achieve the desired effect. It is not recommended for frequent use, but more as a decorative shade. Roman shades will bring elegance to any room and are crafted from a wide range of fabrics into luxurious window treatments. These roman shades have a huge selection of options to choose from including shade fold styles, liners, and lift types. A standard privacy light filtering liner is included and optional liners are available in both privacy light filtering styles and blackout styles. The liners will keep harmful UV rays out while providing you with your desired privacy level. Roman shades are
perfect for those who love soft draperies but want the convenience and functionality of pull-down shades.

- Flat Fold Shade Style: Tack stitches used to attach the cord rings are visible on the face of the shade. Tack stitching is not guaranteed to match the shade color as stitch color is limited. Tack stitching is not as noticeable on pattern fabrics
- Flat Fold Shade Style: paired with Blackout Liner and to a lesser extent the Room Darkening Liner, light seepage will occur at the ring tack stitch points and may increase with use. Effect is more noticeable on lighter colored, light weight fabrics
- Flat Fold Shade Style: When using a light filtering liner or privacy liner the pleat rods will cast a shadow that is visible on the front of the shade. These rods can be removed.
- Flat Fold Shade Style (Cord Lock and CCO Lift Types): Standard Pleat Size: 6". Top Pleat Size: varies from 3" to 9 7/8" depending on shade height. Bottom Pleat Size: 4 3/4".
- Pleated Fold Shade Style: When paired with the blackout liner, light seepage may occur through the stitch perforations (pinholes) at the horizontal pleats - not as noticable on the room darkening 95% blackout liner
- Pleated Fold Shade Style: Pleated stay pockets on the style interrupt fabrics with repeating patterns, not recommended for geometric patterns

- Due to characteristic differences between fabrics, all fold styles may require varying levels of shade dressing to align folds when raised to achieve the best look, this is not a defect and is normal for fabric roman shades
- Due to the nature of tailored fabric shades, fabric specific characteristics and puckering can be expected due to how each fabric is woven and reacts to sewing, this is not a defect, it is part of the natural flowing beauty of a tailored shade
- Continuous Cord Loop Lift: Recommended for single shades over 96" wide for ease of use
- Continuous Cord Loop Lift: Outside mount shades - continuous cord loop roller tube is positioned behind the valance. Roller tube can be visible from below the shade
- Continuous Cord Loop Lift: Outside mount shades come standard with a 6" valance with side returns and the headrail will be 1" wider than the ordered width (the shade material will be the ordered width). Shade material hangs off the back of the headrail
- Continuous Cord Loop Lift: Inside mount shades do not have a valance. Shade material hangs off the front of the headrail and the continuous cord loop is positioned behind the shade. Roller tube can be visible from below the shade
- Continuous Cord Loop Lift: Inside mount shades - the screws are put through the headrail at an angle, you will need to drill the ceiling of the opening at an angle to mount the screws
- Cordless Lift: Shade material comes off the front of the headrail, does not have a valance
- Cordless Lift: On outside mount with room darkening or premium blackout liner, light will come around the sides of the shade due to the shade material offset from the mounting surface, increase the ordered width overlap to help compensate
- Cordless Lift: Not recommended with the Wilmington fabric collection
- Top Down Bottom Up Lift: Includes a standard 6" valance to hide the cord mechanisms. Outside mount shades will include valance side returns and the headrail will be 1" wider than the ordered width (the shade material will be the ordered width).
- Top Down Bottom Up Lift: Has two control cords - left side lowers the top down and the right side lifts the bottom up
- Hidden Cord Lift: Shade material comes off the front of the headrail, does not have a valance

- Multiple shades of different heights may not have the same size folds. It is recommended to order all shades, of similar heights, using the longest height of those shades to assure uniformity among all windows
- It is not recommended to mix different shade options in the same room as the shade construction and components may vary
- Shades over 48" wide will have vertical seams spaced a minimum of 9" from each side of the shade with the largest width of fabric in the center
- Seamed fabrics without the blackout liner will have varying degrees of shadowing at the seamed area. This could possibly affect the appearance of the fabric color in this area as would any shadowing on a light filtering fabric
- The cords that control the operation of the shade are visible on the back of the shade. This is common on roman shades, especially custom tailored roman shades
- Shades with a cord lock mechanism control (hidden cord lift, front cord placement, top down bottom up) should not be mounted directly next to a wall/cabinet/etc, as that may prevent the required motion for the cords to operate the shade
- Shades with a cord lock mechanism control (hidden cord lift, front cord placement, top down bottom up) have a standard cord length of approximately 40% of the shade height in compliance with the current ANSI/WCMA child-safety standard
- Fabric color can vary from one dye lot to another. To ensure that all materials are from the same dye lot, please order all shades at the same time
- Pleat sizes and number of pleats can vary from shade to shade even for the same height shade. For similar placement on multiple shades order all shades for one room at the same time and specify the same window/room name.
- Pull cords are white for cord back positions and are color coordinated for cord front positions - tassels are clear plastic
- Standard privacy liner included - available in white or ivory
- Shade fabric and liner samples are recommended so you can hold the liner behind the fabric for an accurate appearance
- Fabric shades can wrinkle during shipping. Make sure to open and mount shades within a short time period of receiving them to help remove wrinkles. Further wrinkle removing information is in the installation instructions found on our website

- Our Premium Roman Shades: Fabric Group 1 are custom made to your specifications and have a typical production time of 5 to 10 business days. Production time starts the business day after your order is placed. Production times are estimates and can vary.
- Shipping time once out of production is 1 to 5 business days depending on the location of the ship-to address.
- We currently only ship to contiguous United States. We cannot ship to P.O. Boxes or Military Bases.
