Here are some important rules to follow while measuring your windows:

  1. Always use a steel measuring tape for accuracy.
  2. Follow the product specific measuring instructions for proper Width and Height measuring.
  3. Write down WIDTH first then HEIGHT. Do not list them out of order.
  4. For Inside Mounts only - do NOT take deductions, give us the EXACT window measurement. Our factory will take the appropriate deductions.
  5. Measure ALL of your windows, even if they appear to be the same size.
  6. Never measure an existing blind/shade for your measurements.
Determining Your Mount Type

Now you need to decide if you want to mount your window treatment Inside or Outside the window opening. Note that Outside mount includes French Doors.

Inside Mount often provides a cleaner look but you must have the required unobstructed window depth in order to mount it. Each product has inside mount depth requirements and they can be found on the product page relating to the product.

Outside Mount allows you to hide an unattractive window or make a window appear larger than it is. Outside Mount is also the popular choice for vertical blinds.
